Shotoku Glass Co.

Shotoku Glass was established in 1922 and first started off by manufacturing the glass portion of the electric light bulbs. The original company name was Marusa Bulb Manufacturing but the name was changed to the present one in 1958. Since then, Shotoku has developed the "Usuhari glass" series based on the knowledge they gained from making the glass for the electric light bulb.

"Usuhari"

In Japanese, "Usu" means thin and "Hari" means glass, and the glass, only 0.9mm thick, is able to be produced by using the traditional technique of producing a light bulb. While they appear delicate, Usuhari glasses are not as fragile as you might think - their strength is not so different from ordinary glassware. And by minimizing the resistance of the glass on your lips, there is nothing to interfere with the taste of what you’re drinking.

	Originally designed glass for Shochu with carving. The reason this glass called "SHIWA" is because it has gentle depressions on the side of the glass. It is usual to blow air into the glass but these depressions are made by drawing air out from the glass at finall process. (Carved brewery names in Japanese）：宝山/兼八

■USUHARI DAIGINJYO in a wooden gift box φ54㎜×90㎜ 250cc
	This special glass has a projection of glass at its bottom and the glass is very thin at its mouth. When you want to enjoy the aroma and the taste of Japanese sake, drinking it from this glass will make the experience more palatable.

	This is one of the must have items for drinking Japanese sake. Very simple designed sake decanter and two sake glasses are in a traditional Kiri wooden box.
